Our Library also purposes that every individual will have access through it to the more extensive library facilities provided by Regional, State and Federal Library agencies.
The Bedford Public Library, built in 1915, was a gift from Andrew Carnegie. The new library building was very stylish, faced in stucco, trimmed in brick with a red clay tile roof. The inside has two fireplaces with dark pine finished woodwork. It is one of 101 Carnegie Libraries built in Iowa.
The Library is no longer just books; it now is home to five public access computers with high speed internet connections. Other modern technology added recently is a new copier, fax machine, scanner, many new software programs and educational games. The library also contains a large genealogy collection.
Tanya Wyckoff
Library Director
Hi my name is Tanya Wyckoff. I am the new director at the Bedford Public Library.
I am very proud of our Library and all the accomplishments that have been made over the past several years. With the help of grants and the community we have put on a new roof, insulation, all new wiring, new lighting, installed an elevator, and are just finishing up a new geo-thermal heating & air unit. In June 2011 we purchased 5 new public access computers. We also have scanning, fax & copy service.
